Public Meeting - Constituency Review

Postby Tomas Drouty » Tue Sep 20, 2011 6:25 pm

The Parish Council are organising a public meeting to be held at:

The Oaklands Centre, Monday 31st October at 6:30pm

Halloween fancy dress optional!

At this meeting there will be the chance to hear the full facts as to how the boundary changes affect the Parish and we'll be providing you with the opportunity to have your say on the proposals.

Have we heard anything more about this

I would like us to go back into Bassetlaw, as we had a voice then. With coming under Mansfield, we tend to be overshadowed by the big town

If i remember right, the review was to take out the east side of Warsop and put it in Newark and Sherwood.

This would give us an even bigger problem than when the whole of Warsop was in Bassetlaw as only part of the district would be under anther MP.

I'm not sure with being in Bassetlaw totally as we are further from Worksop than we are from Mansfield, so would we have the same problem. Saying that though, whenever a problem got to MP level we certainly faired better with John Mann as against Alan Meale

Half of the parish would remain with Mansfield and the other half would go with a new constituency that would take part of what is now Newark and Sherwood. Either way Alan Meale will not be standing as an MP at the next election so Warsop will have a new MP.

The thing with the boundary review is historically Mansfield is Labour and Sherwood is Conservative so it highly likely that if these plans are approved 2 wards in Warsop will have a Labour MP and the other 2 a Conservative MP.
