I have been asked to post this on here following on from comments at the last Parish Council meeting:

A Parish Bonfire 2009 steering committee is being put together to organise a Parish Bonfire and Fireworks display for November 2009

Anyone who would like to join the steering committee then please contact Adrian Hardy at Adrianrichard40@aol.com

Hope he went to Cuckney last night, it was fantastic, need to know from them
1 how much fireworks cost?
2 how did they fund it?
3 How much did insurance cost?
Good idea in principle if he can get enough volunteers to organise it and help on the night

Where would this happen?

I can't think of anywhere appropriate that you'd be allowed to scorch?

Leave it to the Swallows, they do a grand job each year!

Thinkin about the swallows bonfire reminded me of when we were kids, gangs of us as 10 / 11 year olds used to drag full tree's down the middle of the road that we'd chopped down from up the woods and no-one batted an eye lid!! can you imagine if they did that today!! there must have been 6 or 7 bonfires on the rec (recreation ground) opposite the swallows back in the 70's we must have chopped half the forest down and no-one ever bothered us, it was an amazing night! everyone on the estate was on that field.

 Brings back memories that does muso! Great community spirit in t'old days when we had Recs to gather on! We used to do exactly the same but our bonfire was on't 'Tops' (top of Appleton Street). There's garages and a park there now!
