It's the same as the Top Cat fire, everyone can remember it happening but can't remember the year.

I can remember talking to Nigel Griffin just before he bought it, he was in two minds, but i can't for the life of me remember what year.

It was still a pub in the late 70's, and your're right Langa, it didn't close at 11 many nights (wasn't the chucking out time officially 10.30 at that time though)

Dog and Rabbit was still open around 94-95 as a pub Because I had a friend who came over to see me around that that time and we went there for a drink.I know it had been renovataited around 92=93.
It's nice to be Important, but Important to be nice.

My sister met her husband there, his mum and dad were the Dog and Rabbit landlord and landlady. They had their 30th wedding anniversary last week. :)

Didn't it serve 'Shipstones Ales'?
That brew closed more pubs than the smoking ban ever did

It was still open in 1979 as 'The Midnight Cowboy' and i per-chased some take outs from there at 2.00! in the morning, that year. From thence , onwards everything went a little hazy. . . .

Another infamous Shipstones House was the BelleVue in Mansfield and they drove a road through it. Is the brewery still in existence, i wonder.
Mansfield Brewery is just a barren wasteland in the middle of town now.
I blame all these Wine bars that are springing up in Warsop and elsewhere. . . .

And closing in Warsop! The one we have seems to change hands quicker than money across the bar.

Regarding breweries closing, I remember when W&D were proposing to take over Mansfield and CAMRA were in the Chad defending it. I sent the Mansfield branch an e-mail calling them hypocrits and got a right snotty response back from their secretary or somebody. And what happened? We knew that the offices/admin would go, but then the brewery followed a few years later, and now it's Marstons Smooth everywhere, Mansfield's just about gone altogether.

I still say they're hypocritical b******s, CAMRA.

The Dog was the only pub that I never set foot in in Warsop. I thought that it closed mid-90's.
I wish I was fishing
