At one time Warsop had two picture houses, one was were the bingo is now. I can't remember the exact year the other burnt down, but i remember sitting on the police station wall watching it, it was, i think sometime in the early 70's. It will probably come back to me when i'm not thinking about, like i can now remember the name of the cobbler at the entrance to it was Florence, and he used to look at you over the top of his 1/2 rim glass's.

fester - you won't remember the old cinema, it was way before your time.

Thinking back to my own life events, I'm pretty sure it burned down after July 1972. At the time it was a shop selling clothing and furniture and was still owned by Alan Bellamy.

Asking other people as made me think the fire was later than i thought, it sounds like it may have been the late 70's

I am sure the fire was early eighties as I left school in 1982 and at dinner time I used to walk up the High Street on the way to my Grans for lunch and it was still there

It was while I was living away from Warsop between 1972 and 1981. I remember visiting my mum's and going to the shop with my eldest who was born in '72. So, I'd say mid to late 70's.

After the picture house burnt down, he opened Top Cat as a pub near the Hare and Hounds. Can anyone remember when that was?

Are you sure Adrian? I didn't think it was that late. I thought that opened before I came back to Warsop in 81.

I thought the barbers was just down Carr Lane and got knocked down to make way for the new road.
Me slow??? I get up in the morning with nothing to do and go to bed at night with half of it done.
