Severn Trent Water contractor in Church Warsop

There has been a Severn Trent Water contractor in Church Warsop this morning doing a survey of the drains. They visited and asked to take a manhole cover on private property! Severn Trent Water cannot tell me who this could be.

If anyone sees this van in the area please get the company name and let me know.

They were about earlier in the year, working in pairs one raids the house whilst the other keeps you busy in the garden with a drain

I think it's strange that they'd be working on a Saturday and I'd report this to the police if I were you.

Like Moaner says, a few weeks ago there was a gang using drain surveys as a cover up for distraction burglaries. One of them knocks at the front door and gets the house owner to go with them around the back of the property to look at the drains and keeps them talking, while the other one nips in the front door to do the burglary. My mum narrowly missed being burgled this way, thanks to a neighbour spotting the one who was just about to nip in. Unfortunately though, a lady on Hammerwater Drive was robbed the same morning.

I have been in contact with Severn Trent Water.

They think it was a contractor working for them but were unable to confirm this after trying to contact one main contractor they use.
The chap that came to the door apparently had a full set of plans for the area. They used what looked like a camera system after power flushing the drain.
From all the information I have its the visits sounds above board but I have a few issues with Severn Trent Water.
Now Severn Trent Water are responsible for all jointly used drains on private property they will need access but they are unable to tell me what arrangements are in place. If you have not called them out and they just turn up wanting to do work on your land this leaves the opportunity for the criminal fraternity to take advantage.

After a number of phone calls to Trent Water they have not yet been able to clear this up. At least they have an 0800 telephone number so my daily phone calls will be free at least.

After my daily phone call to Trent they are unable to identify any contractor that works for them that made this visit. They have now advised me to speak to MDC.

There is currently a white van on our street that says 'Underground Services' CCTV Division. I suspect they've got a camera down a drain or something but they haven't been to any houses.

Now you mention it Caz they were on Forest Road at the end of Blakeley Lane last Saturday with a camera down the sewer.

I wonder if it's the same people Andrew is talking about? It also says Highways Division on the van, but that means nothing.

They were working along Clumber Street this morning.

Is it Trent or a contractor ?

I think it looked like a contractor. I didn't see anything on the van that said Severn Trent.
