There really does need to be some intervention by the government. I think John Mann has a surgery next week at the Age Concern building, so I'm going to try and remember to go and see him about this. It might help if you do the same Whitey.

Slightly off topic but I had a call from someone tonight who said he was from BT and wanted to help me stop getting nuisance calls. I said if he really was from BT he would have checked to see if I was already on the TPL and as I was, he was breaking the law by calling me. He hung up. Hubby said he'd had the same call yesterday.

So many bloody con men and people stooping to low immoral means to sell their wares!

I've e.mailed him and asked him to look on the forum for more details. I may well phone for an appointment as well though I don't want to take places that other people might need, so I'll hang fire a bit.

i have submitted a petition to 10 downing street and awaiting approval i will post on here and spread far and wide, i'll also create yet another fb group to spread it further, the timespan on it i have given is 3 months.
it will read as follows

Your petition reads:
We the undersigned petition the Prime Minister to Stop Utilitycompanies changing suppliers from the elderly, people withDementia/Alzheimer's
Utility companies go door to door and ring up people to changesuppliers, this should be made illegal for people withalzheimers/Dementia and when relatives phone up to cancel theyshould do so and revert to the previous supplier.
Of all the things i've lost, i miss my mind the most

Well, i went to see John Mann, but was disappointed by his response, to say the least.
Wasn't in for more than a minute and all he said was that it nothing to with him and i should contact OFGEM and the TPS

Just looked on OFGEM's website and their system as also changed and they direct you to Consumer Direct.
I have already rung these, though, and they basically cannot do anything about it because British Gas have not actually broken the law.

If you still wish to complain further you can go to the Energy Ombudsman, but your complaint must fit strict criteria, checked this and my complaint does not fall in their remit.

Basically it looks like the energy companies can con you if they word it correctly and there is nothing you can do about.
So much for blo**y regulators.

Looks like talking to some consumer programme such as Watchdog to see if they are interested.

That's very disappointing Whitey! I too spoke with John Mann and he said I should get in touch with the TPS because the company who rang my mum had broken the law by phoning her when she was on the TPS. All they'll do is phone the company, if they can find them, and tell them off. That's going to do no good at all anyway in this case becasue I'm sure the company changes its name regularly.

How do we protect those who are vulnerable?

Blood boiling time again

I'm now having a similar problem with Safestyle Windows, even though they have been explained the situation and told to back off.
I've threatened to report them to the police for harassment if they phone again.
