Parish Centre/Tudor Barn

Postby Westmorland » Sat Sep 26, 2015 9:19 pm

The noise coming from the Tudor Barn this evening is totally unacceptable, they really do not have any consideration at all for local residents, its selfish beyond belief

for a residential area the music was unacceptable and it will not be tolerated

music that loud is not called having fun is called p***ing off decent respectable people and for a church run establishment it is disgraceful

I think on a Saturday night, any celebration noise is acceptable as long as it doesn't go on much beyond midnight, although if it did once in a while, I'd accept it. I don't see what the difference is between church run establishments and otherwise. Everyone deserves to be happy and the church has to make money on the building by renting it out for functions.

Where I live, we often hear music from the pubs till quite late but it doesn't bother me if it's the sound of people enjoying themselves.

See! I haven't quite turned into a grumpy old woman yet! :D

Dear Victor Meldrew
Take a chill pill before you implode yourself in total rage.!
More than likely it was a wedding reception, and any DECENT person would accept music and revelry at these events.
Have you ever stopped to consider that not everyone is happy to hear the bells pealing all over the area, but you seem to think that the "music" that the bells make is ok.
Others probably don't agree with you and your little rant about people playing loud music at a wedding, and they probably don't like the sound of the bells, but I don't think they would bother writing to MDC to complain that the sound of the bells was drowning out the sound of the rugby match on the TV.

Perhaps in future the Tudor Barn should only allow wedding receptions to be held up until 8.00pm and the only music allowed to be played should be a recording of Handel's Water Music, played through the headphones of everone in attendance.

Keep on complaining about the Tudor Barn and you will single handedly get it closed down.
Is that what you want, another nail in the coffin for a local venue?

To Caz: The majority of people don't get grumpy as they get older, as they can remember what they did when they were younger.
The few people who are always complaining must have a short memory, or they have had a very sad life.

Here is Meden Vale we had to put up with the "Yellow River " Disco every Monday night at Welbeck Club for years and years, and as far as I know there were no complaints.

Maybe we just knew how to have fun and enjoy ourselves

The Parish Centre should be converted into a conference centre/ retreat and I will be emailing the Bishop regards this idea as the Parish Centre is owned by the Nottingham and Southwell Diocese

Whether the Parish Centre close its doors or not is in the hands of those who run it

Out of all the events held in the Tudor Barn this year which include weddings. parties and barn dances this is the first time I have had to complain about the noise, so it therefore stands to reason the noise was far to loud and above what is acceptable.

The bells only ring for 20 minutes on a Sunday only the four front bells at that, there is no comparison between the bells and a ghetto blaster on at full force at 11pm at night

You do not have to smoke drink alcohol listen to loud music to enjoy yourself in life................perhaps you should try it Wizard you may enjoy it

Bars at functions in the Tudor Barn are now run by the Memorial Club and not the Centre Club

what a lot of fuss over nothing. If he wants to complain then let him, :D :D He will be the laughing stock at the end of the day :)

From what i am seeing from where i sit its nothing, when we have a fiesta the music dose'nt even start till 2300 hrs and then goes on till 6 or 7 in the morning ;)
Thats what's called a party and i am over 60 and love every minute of it. Trouble is in England nowadays you can't fart without some person having a whinge about it. Can't even fly the St George because it might upset someone. :(

Roll on next year and the Uk pulls out of Europe and things start to go down hill

Have fun :D

If the Parish Centre is converted into a retreat/Conference Centre then it will bring in far more revenue than it does at present, both for the church and for the town, local groups could also continue to hire rooms

People who come to residential conferences and retreats will venture into Warsop and spend money

The one in Pembroke in Wales really does well and its a similar type of building a 16th century farm

Those on here who say the noise is okay clearly do not live near the Parish Centre, which was converted after many local, residents moved in

In the late 1970s the Parish Centre stopped having public discos due to the place constantly getting trashed and on one occasion at a Rugby disco the Police picked up a party goer walking around the churchyard and he was naked from the waist down

It was decided about 1979 that only booked wedding, anniversaries and parties for birthdays would be allowed

As far as I am aware the Centre Club at the Parish Centre has only ever been raided once by the Police due to after hours drinking activities......not exactly the sort of example the church should be promoting, but I believe they complied with the Police warning and did not serve after hours again.

I think I will give your suggestion a miss Mr Meldrew if you don't mind
Look what its turned you into

I don't smoke Mr Meldrew, but I do like the odd glass of wine, especially when I'm out socialising with my friends. ( Friends are people who I can have a laugh and joke with)
I even have friends round to my house for a drink, and we love it!

As a parish councillor, I thought you were supposed to promote the different functions and venues in the area, but all you seem to do is whinge about Warsop and the people who live here, whilst always promoting areas away from Warsop, such as Wales and The Lake District

Where is your loyalty?

Your Monday will be taken up by sending letters off to various people complaining about everyday life.

Lighten up a bit Mr Meldrew. You will end up an even bigger sad old man as you get older, the way you are going.

Thankfully Wizard I have had a very broad and colourful upbringing and my life has been enriched my by my many travels and friends

At the age of 17, I travelled to Australia for 6 months , I also have spent time living in London and West Wales

I have seen many successful places and the Haven Christian Centre in Pembroke is one of those places and we also have a similar place at Morley in Derbyshire. Warsop Parish Centre needs a future and I can see that future which is to convert it into a conference retreat centre, it should be promoting Christianity and not alcohol and anti social behavior

At one time the Tudor Barn was booked up on Fridays and Saturday a year or more in advance, since then other places have opened, The Oaklands, John Fretwell Sports Centre, South Forest and as a former Teacher and DJ the late Mr John Mabbott told me the problem with the Tudor Barn is it is to narrow ....people are going to more modern places for their celebrations

Its only by travelling that I have been able to gain knowledge to help make Warsop a better place and broaden my outlook

You continue to live in the narrow confines of your life with your bottle of wine but as for me I will continue to embrace change, be out spoken stand up for things I believe in and continue to have that positive can do attitude which will bring benefit to Warsop

Wow ;) havn't you been to a lot of places :D
Where i am now is the 54th country i have visited / stayed in and also been to the Tudor barn on a couple of occasions for a party and in the early days to the disco's there. Will be home later this year for a couple of parties as well Maybe you should do some more travel and find a life of enjoyment and happiness :)
I don't smoke but like Wizard i enjoy the odd bottle of wine or a few beers and socialize with friends.

What sort of future will Warsop have, as you say you want, if all people do is complain when there's a bit of noise. Might as well close everything down and turn Warsop into an old folks home
