Charity Donation

Postby whipster2210 » Fri Dec 19, 2014 11:13 pm

Hi Guys,

Not been on here for a long time....gosh its quiet.

Anyway, i have been given a £200 charity donation to make by the place I work.
There are 2 stipulations from them.
1. It has to be a registered charity.
2. It has to have a live bank account for the monies to be paid into.

Does anybody have any suggestions of where £200 could be best spent. I know its not a lot but to a charity it might be quiet significant.
I originally thought of local schools, air cadets etc etc but they already get good volumes of cash.

Is there a soup kitchen / homeless shelter etc in the Warsop area that anyone can put me in touch with.

Any other suggestions welcome.
Thanks

Hi Whipster. There's Age Concern, which is a National Charity with a local branch on High Street, who do a brilliant job looking after and keeping our elderly residents occupied and there's also The Oaklands, which is purely local and provides respite care and care for those with disabilities. Both are very worthy charities which are always looking for funding.

Hi Caz,

Oaklands is a good shout. Thanks.
There are over 300 in our place of work that have been given the £200 donation so i'm sure they will get a donation somewhere but they do get a lot of national attention anyway. I am looking for a real Warsop / locally based charity

Any other suggestions ?

There are lots of community groups who are very deserving of grant aid but not registered as charities. My money would go to Friends of the Carrs because the work they do benefits everyone in our community, but I don't think they are a registered charity either, though you could contact someone at the Town Hall and ask.

Caz hit the nail on the head when she mentioned Oaklands. You know where your money goes there. The people who work there do a brilliant job and deserve every penny they get. One other plus in favour of Oaklands: there are no big-wigs drawing six figure salaries out of donations.
