Gypsy Caravans on grass near River

Postby Wizard » Mon May 27, 2013 2:58 pm

I went past the Mill Dam about an hour ago, and there were around half a dozen old fashioned horse drawn gypsy caravans parked up.
The horses were happily munching on the grass, and the owners were sat near the caravans enjoying the sunshine.
It was a rather a picture postcard sort of view, as I usually get annoyed when I see the "Travellers Caravans", but I thought how quaint it looked with the horses and old type of caravans.
I must be getting softer the older I get!!

I bet that was a brilliant site, did you get any photoes ??
Screw the padded room, give me a trampoline floor with bubble wrapped walls and a velcro ceiling.

I didn't get any photo's Al, as I was driving .
I have been past there again today and they have moved on.
Thinking about it, they could have been on their way northwards to Appleby, as its the annual Appleby Horse Fair at the beginning of June.
Maybe they were just resting the horses for a while before moving on.
Funny how you judge people by their mode of transport.
Travellers who travel in vans and caravans are frowned upon when they camp on the grass, yet travellers who travel in old fashioned horse drawn gypsy caravans are accepted.
Same people, different mode of transport.
Strange world !!

Not Brilliant but I snapped this as they were on there way into Warsop between Spion Kop and The Railway Bridge

I believe there is one of them on the Carrs on Facebook, someone who has access to Facebook may post one on here.

There must be some kind of event, possibly Appleby as I saw one of those caravans on Monday when we were driving to Sutton. A car was towing a trailer with one on and I commented that it's something you don't see these days and here we are posting about them being on the Carrs. :)
