Dredging the Mill Dam

Postby Wizard » Mon Jul 16, 2012 6:30 pm

Does anyone have any updates on the dredging of the Mill Dam.
I know it was scheduled to be done in August, but due to the heavy rain we have been getting, and consequently very soft ground, I was wondering if it had been postponed until the ground gets a bit harder, as the machines used for dredging would put really deep ruts in the ground whilst it is so wet.

It was provisionally planned for about 4th august, i've not heard anything different.
The fields that it was planned to be put on had a relatively short window between crops but Mr Bowring as now agreed to keep it fallow for longer to allow further time to spread the slurry, so there is now the opportunity to delay if necessary.

Well another massive kick in the teeth from MDC for Warsop.

When i read the article in last weeks Chad for the launch of the Carrs project, the only thing i thought was odd was that the "ceremony" was held at Tichfield park in Mansfield.

I have just been talking to a committee member of the Friends group and they did not know anything about this event taking place, the first they knew was when they read it in the Chad, i had assumed that they was actually there.

So, after 18 months of hard work put in by the friends group, not only was the launch at Mansfield's park, the Friends group were not even invited to it.
I find this this absolutely scandalous.
There are four partners in this project, The Wildlife Trust, The Environment Agency, Friends of the Carrs and MDC. The whole project as took a lot of work from ALL four groups and it could not have been done without any one of them.

SO, MDC, Why was the launch held in Tichfield Park and why was the Friends of the Carrs not invited? Is this another one of your attempts at belittling anything that that volunteer groups try to do for Warsop?

Did not see the article, never read CHAD because it is so pro MDC and Eggington.

What was the project launch, was it something to do with the awards that Titchfield, Carbank and Peafield parks have all applied for and just been awarded or something different?

The Chad article was specifically for the launching of the £90,000 Carrs desilting/island project. Nothing else was mentioned in the article and it gave the impression that this launch party was solely for this project.

If other parks had got funding for their projects, this was not mentioned. If this was a "party" for all the parks, this was not mentioned.

If this was a launch for several different projects (which i don't think it was) then i can understand why it was held in Titchfield Park, but it still leaves the question, Why wasn't Friends of the Carrs invited?

Has anyone contacted the group responsible for this event to find out why the Freinds of the Carrs were not invited.

The least they can do is put something on their website... admitting to the error .. I'm referring to MDC here.... 'MDC' is a member of this forum...will it happen.

PS the nice thing about living in a 3-floor house is that the upper level is at pig flying altitude... oops there's one going by the window as I type.

Has someone on the committee upset MDC in some way?

In my experience I have found that if you work with MDC they are usually fairly amicable, upset them and you get ignored.
