We have discussed safety on this stretch of road time after time, but will those in a position of power at Notts County Council and MDC listen? How many more people have to be injured or killed before something is done.

Something as been done though, hasn't it?
Reduced speed limits, road lights, lane markings changed, road resurfaced, high friction tarmac in places.
What else can you do?

It's always upsetting to hear this kind of news, and yes, we've discussed this to bits and generally conclude it's not the road that's dangerous, it's the road users. So let's leave that for the debates section and concentrate on updating news as it happens here, then we can keep people aware of the road situation.

Cuckney Hill looks like it will be closed for most of the night, the Police have left the bottom of Cuckney Hill and put cordons and signs up,saying road closed due to accident. I have heard the accident was very severe but can not say anything else at the moment

Unfortunately there was a fatality and a serious injury. Cuckney Hill is likely to be closed for some time.

Our thoughts are with the families and friends of those involved.

Please can I remind everyone that this thread is for 'News as it Happens' and I'd like to keep it that way so that people can be informed of what's actually happening at this time, especially where it may immediately affect them, such as road closures etc. It's not for things that happened previously, or for discussing news.

By all means discuss news items but please do it elsewhere, or start a new thread if necessary. Adrian, you might like to start a new thread for posting items relating to Warsop that are in the Chad and where people can discuss them.

Thank you.

Adrian, I've removed the post relating to the news in the Chad as it's not 'News as it Happens' which is what this thread is for. It's to make people aware of what's happening at the current time. It might be worth you starting a new dedicated thread for Chad articles, where you can bring attention to those that relate to Warsop and I'm sure some people would find that useful. That would also give people the opportunity to discuss articles.

It's important we keep on topic as some people have alerts to threads such as this, so they can be aware of current incidents etc, and it isn't at all helpful when you get an alert for something that's off topic and can be annoying.

Thank you!
