Roads are likely to be icey tomorrow morning as overnight temperatures are expected to fall below freezing.

It's looking like we've got some very cold weather to come with snow, sleet or freezing rain possible from the weekend into next week.

Snow is now coming much faster and thicker and is settling readily with temps below freezing. Beware of icey roads and allow plenty of time for travel on Monday morning and be prepared for more snow during the day. Main roads have been well gritted and are currently clear.

Please post any information you have about road conditions and weather affected services so that we can keep everyone updated.

Who are these people who decide to close a school, just because it MIGHT snow?
The disruption caused to working parents is atrocious.
The two schools at Meden Vale have been closed today for no reason whatsoever.
The roads are clear, so there is no problems with the parents or teachers getting to and from school, so whay have they been closed?
Britain has turned into a laughing stock when it snows.
OK, some places in Britain are getting it bad, but the Meden School has remained open, so why close the Meden Vale schools?
As a matter of interest, are we, as tax payers, paying for the teachers to have an extra days holiday, or does it come out of their holiday allowance?
Perhaps Mr Droughty can enlighten us!

The school have said this today regards the closure

Eastlands Junior School, Mansfield - School will be closed today to staff and pupils due to the amount of snow that has fallen already and the poor weather conditions which have been forecast for the rest of the day. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and aim to reopen as soon as possible.

Other schools have said the same thing

Forest Town Primary School, Mansfield - Please note that school will be closed today, Friday 22nd March, for all staff and pupils due to concerns about site safety and the forecast for extreme weather conditions throughout the day. Our apologies to all.

King Edward Primary School and Nursery, Mansfield - Will be closed today due to the snow and the forecast for more significant snowfall through the day. Y5 pupils should still go to Brunts as planned. A text will be sent to Y5 if this changes. Staff need not attend.
