Spring Watch

Postby Caz » Tue Feb 20, 2007 1:19 am

The frogs in my pond are croaking tonight. That's a sure sign that they're thinking about finding mates to spawn. Anyone else noticed frog movement yet?

Remember my pond pics from last year mustardy?

Do you know where the last year's spring watch topic went to? I've looked for it but can't find it. Maybe we pruned it out but I hope not as I'd like to look back and see what dates we posted certain observations and compare them to this year.

 Right!

Oh well, I've searched for it but it's not there. Pity as I'd have liked to know when I reported croaking frogs last year. I'm sure everything's a lot earlier this year. I certainly didn't have daffodils in full flower this time last year.

Wow, Heidi! Your spawn is really early this year. Can you remember when you had your first spawn last year?

I'd better check my pond. I keep hearing the frogs croaking and see them hopping about but I haven't really checked for spawn as I thought it was too early.

So it is a lot earlier this year then Heidi.

Mine haven't spawned yet, but they're very noisy at night and they're are quite a few gathered in the pond, so it won't be long. Mine were later than yours last year as well.
