Council precept and carnival

Postby BorisTechMark2 » Mon Jul 23, 2012 4:03 pm

Is it true the Parish Council are considering putting up the precept next year to cover the losses at this years carnival?

Absolutely not true and I can't imagine where you would have heard such a thing. The council do fund the carnival to the sum of £5000 each year and although the event didn't take place are ensuring that this year's allocation is still in place.

We don't discuss the precept until January. I can't comment if it will go up as I simply do not know at this stage. But if it does it won't be down to the carnival.

As the town hall is a public building in which smoking is not permitted, we won't be requiring a smoke screen either.
