That's CHAD for you ain't it Boris, never get the correct story or speak the right people. If they are speaking to the Varnival Committee they should contact the chair for comment, that's part of thier role.

The chairman of the parish council is a member of the carnival committee and an ex-chair of the carnival committee. There is no current chair of the committee as it was felt that each meeting will be chaired by alternating members.

It wouldn't surprise me if this year's event has to be cancelled. We're in an amber warning area for heavy rain tonight and tomorrow and parking hundreds of cars on waterlogged grass will cause it a lot of damage. Let's just pray the rain isn't as heavy as forecast.

It doesnt look good the Ashfield Festival has been cancelled. It depends I think on how much rain we get tomorrow.Saturday doesnt look good either. Carparking will be an issue as part of that side of Carrs get very wet and muddy and would need to be roped off.

I just popped on to see if there was any decision on carnival. I just keep thinking if we get so much rain and the ground is sodden the Carrs will get wrecked :| we wouldn't be able to go because we wouldn't be able to push the pushchair round

I think it will be down to MDC's Parks Department to make a decision and I think they'll be taking another look tomorrow. I understand they've been out today and said it was drying out nicely, but then we had a downpour this afternoon and again this evening, without whatever the next couple of days bring.

I had a thought regarding the cost of the one day trading licence for stalls. If the carnival was cancelled, would the stall holders get a refund from MDC?

We can all just hope for the best...unless anyone has a few thousand sq m of board with joining strips they are itching to donate.

I asked about this a while ago and the answer was no.

Apparently the decision to cancel or not is at 3pm this afternoon
