Carnival 2012

Postby Skyblup!nk » Tue Feb 21, 2012 10:42 am

Hello!

Does anyone know what the usual categories are in the Garden Show? I've lost the booklet from last year and I'm wondering what to have a go at this year. Also, I don't know if this is the right place to suggest it, but I would like to see an 'Open Baking' section in the show, giving scope for things such as biscuits, scones, cupcakes, brownies etc.
I assume the carnival will be held on either the 1st or 8th July this year? (Need to put my holidays in at work!)

Hope you can help! :)

indeed they are, the carnival needs reinventing and branding as after a while things can become alittle stale

got yourself a job there then as i am sure all the hardworking volunteers that work tirelessly will happily let someone else do the work

Absolutely...the more the merrier....we're always on the look out for fresh ideas and keen to learn from the experience of previous carnivals. For example, we don't often talk about the 2007 carnival as it was plagued by the floods and a dodgy carnival secretary.

wasn't 2007 the year that schooltechaer chappie was the Secretary

Didn't the footbridge collaspe as well over the river

Although i did hear the secretary stood up against everyone who wanted it cancelled due tot he weather especially Friends of the Carrs and if he hadn't stood up against them then there would have been no 2o07 carnival

I hear this years is going to be a struggle too Boris as they are charging too much for the stalls and people won't pay. I can see the annual carnival ceasing over the next few years because every year it seems to be another obstacle that sets it back each year.

is the stall issue something to do with MDC who are saying what has to be a certain charge for stalls, I think they are out to stop Warsop having a Carnival and Christmas Market. My Blood boils

MDC are so low they could crawl under a snake

I would apportion just as much blame to the Parish Council for it Boris, they just sit back and watch Mansfield District Council come up with these ideas and like lemmings adhere to them and do nothing to challenge them.

These are events organised by local people, not councils, so why MDC think they have the right to charge for stalls at them I have no idea, and why the Parish Council just go along with it I have no idea either.
