Red Arrows

Postby Tomas Drouty » Thu Jun 04, 2009 2:43 pm

The Red Arrows team will be making a flypast on Carnival Sunday.

Please note however, they are subject to cancellation at short notice due to circumstances beyond the carnival committee's control.

That was my thought .. they are heading in the correct direction as it's that direction I'd asked them to do for the flyover.... my only concern is they seem to keep missing the showground and head over Meden field instead!

My understanding is that they must avoid flying over the crowds at airshows.
I'm no expert, so please correct me if I'm wrong.

They were flying over the area checking all the landmarks for their flypast. They do it for all the events they attend. I have a friend i used to go fishing with before he moved away, and it was his job at the time.
Screw the padded room, give me a trampoline floor with bubble wrapped walls and a velcro ceiling.

Hi,

In theory they should fly to the North of the Venue so that you are not looking into the Sun. They did used to approach crowds from the rear i.e. the attention of the crowd was distracted while they crept up behind you. Used to give you Hell of a fright, only equalled by the Tornadoes of 617 Squadron in the Scottish Highlands.
Return with your Shield or on it. ------ Old Zulu war cry.

Wow a local flying for them ... i wonder if he'll park it up and drop in for a tea!

Must be nice for him to fly over his home ground.
