We haven't agreed on a theme yet, but that might determine what we have to some extent. I have to admit that at first, I was a bit disappointed when it was suggested we don't have these big £4,000 acts, but then when I thought about it, I never watch them anyway, so I wouldn't miss them. By the sound of it, most of you are in the same boat, erm, I hope mentioning boat hasn't pub the mockers on the weather for next year! :lol:

Maybe we could get an army display or something like that as well.

Have you tried the Red Arrows? With us being fairly near to their base, they can generally get at least a 'fly past' in on their way to and from displays and the best thing is, as far as I'm aware. Its free. I don't know if you could get them to do a 'bit' whilst they're in the area that probably req's a bit more clout.

Just a thought, but you already knew that. :wink: :D

Chatsworth cut down on their main arena acts this year but we still enjoyed the weekend.

The Tigers free fall paracute team are always a good crowd puller and you can watch them whilst you are walking around, we had them a few years back. Chatsworth have them every year, they also have Steve Carver and his mate aerobatics, they are really good and no need for the main arena.

All good ideas and my kinda thing, but it's not so much about needing a main arena, as paying for acts/attractions that can't perform due to adverse weather. We'll still have an arena for acts such as Tudor Dancers etc.

We'll be celebrating Britain's history, it's culture past and present, famous Britains etc. etc.

And before we get the PC Brigade onto us who might claim this as being racist .. baloney! Britain is as multicultural as any country can get!

Anyway, we can't be accused of being racist. Last year we dedicated the whole carnival to Countrys and Cultures of the World. This year, we've just gone a bit more local!

Stalls will be the same price as last year and booking forms will be available soon. We've had to update them with some legal stuff but should have copies in the next couple of weeks or so .. keep checking back on here for an update (hopefully if Mrs Caz is very nice we might be able to place a link on here to download your own).

If you'd rather call in at the Town Hall and collect one, they're available at reception and in Tania's office.


(If you're seeing the forum clock as one hour in front it's because you didn't change it in your preferences when we put clocks back last October - but clocks are changing again on Saturday, so I'd leave it now and save yourself a job. :lol: )

I think it's sad that you are thinking of not having events in the main arena this year.I know it spoils it when the weathers not good but i think the big events would pull in the crowd.

It was a difficult decision but sometimes you just have to experiment with new ideas. If it doesn't work out this year then we'll revert back to tried and tested methods .. however, we are planning for there to be lots more attractions that don't rely on you standing around a metal fence and won't be disrupted should the weather be what it's been like the past 2 years.. and there 'may' be something 'big' indoors shall we say!
