Carnival Programme

Postby Caz » Fri Oct 05, 2007 12:28 am

What would you like to see in the carnival programme?

Obviously it will include the parade route, the main arena events and other events and the necessary advertising to bring in the funds, so anyone wanting to advertise in it let me know.

But what else would make it interesting?

Would you like to see a few puzzles and quizes? A few jokes, maybe from Digger (clean ones though)? What else?

Why don't you stick to the winning format of the past two years

Why don't you stop putting a damper on everything? Grapes...sour....

what about a selection of pasts & present pictures, like what the carrs USED to look like. i hear there used to be a farm on there and a row of old cottages untill some mad people decided to knock em down.
Of all the things i've lost, i miss my mind the most

If my memory serves me correctly, one of the committee was a former 'Carnival Queen'. Perhaps she has some photos you could use.:)

Yes, Bev is a former carnival queen and I'm sure we can get some pictures!

Any more ideas?

Oh and.... if you can't say something nice, please don't post!

As you've got plenty of ideas, why don't you come onto the committee again? Get involved! The next meeting is on 25th October.

So, was the last programme a winning format, or do we want something a bit different?

The last programme may have been a winning format but people soon tire of seeing the same thing. The idea of memories/photographs from the past sounds good.

We'll still have the schools competition to design the front cover.

Karen from Design2 is in charge of the programme, she's a professional graphic designer and is the person who does Warsop & District News, so we have a greater scope for content and as we're tackling it at an earlier date, we can give it more thought.

I bet meden schools art dept.or design dept. could come up with some new, modern ideas.
You could involve the other schools too by having a design competition, say 50p entry with proceeds going to the carnival.

Erm obviously nobody read the programmes that I did a couple of years ago .. both featured a memories of the past section and included photographs dating back to the first carnival.

Anyway all ideas welcome  .

This is so and last year we only sold about 700 of the 1000 programmes printed. We made about £200 profit out of a possible £500 profit from the programmes

you might as well put a four page pull out in the Warsop News for what use it is
