Arena ideas

Sallyann suggested robots as a posibility for the carnival. Does anyone have any ideas and contacts for other performers/acts etc. Please be constructive and let's hear about some of the things you've seen at other shows that you found impressive.

I will pass on all your suggestions to the carnival committee meetings and committee members will be reading your posts and responding from time to time.

Its a great idea

Last year I looked at things like this, they are a couple of thousand pounds to hire, you need act quickly as they get booked up.

If you still think the robot idea is insane then take a look on you tube under "titan".There's quite a lot of footage of him on there!

I don't think it's insane at all and it's something that could be taken to the committee.

Sallyann, do you think it's a main arena act that people canl sit and watch, or is it more an interactive attraction where the robot would have to walk around the showground?

I think the show only lasts around 10-15 mins but i think it would be a main arena act where the main crowd gathers as it does'nt have the battery capability of walking around all the attractions at the carnival. It is a real robot and not a man in costume. Perhaps one of you computer buffs could put a linky thing on here from you tube so people can see what i'm on about as i'm not up on these things!

in genral is how much you could afford to hire them but the kids would certainly love those things

How much the committee have to spend depends on how much fundraising they do. As well as organising the event and booking the acts, the carnival committee have to raise money throughout the year to pay for it. There are some limited funds through the District and Parish Council's but these nowhere near cover the costs, therefore the committee will have to look at the costs against the entertainment value.

So any ideas for fundraising will also be welcome, as will offers of help for organising fundraising events!

ok here's one have a smartie party day the idea is give everyone a tube of smarties after they have eaten them over a period of a few months they have to put a pound in to the tube each week till the tube is full you'll be surprised how much a tube of smarties hold in pound coins

this can be done in work or with family and friends it all down to you

This is not something for the arena, but i have a great contact for a Street Theatre company called Swank. They are based in Nottingham and do alot of work for big shows at Rufford Park etc. They really are great and a big hit with everyone. I'll pop the information into your office Caz for you to look at.
