Virus Alert!

Postby Caz » Thu Feb 26, 2009 1:31 pm

This is not a scam, it's serious and has affected our IT services at the Council. All NCC employees have today received the following message from our IT department......

ICT Services is currently working to contain and remove the Conficker-A virus, which has affected almost 10 million computer devices worldwide.

Please be aware of this and make sure your virus software is up to date and able to deal with it.

We've had it, Caz, and you know I work for an IT company. I received a mail this afternoon that my laptop was one of 100 or so which had connected to a server where the virus was found. Despite all having anti-virus s/w I still had my machine taken off me for them to check it over. I came home early, can't work without it!!!

Sorry to hear about your infection Digger! No, seriously, it's nasty stuff and I wonder how we'd manage if ever something knocked everything out. Not very well eh? I've had a problem with my computer at home and have just got it back up and running - had a new mother board and processor put in. I'm now wondering if it was anythign to do with the virus, though it's more likely it was a hardware problem.

I personally don't think that my machine has the virus, it was just traced as one of many which had been connected to the server when the virus turned up there. They're just taking precautions I guess.
