The problems continue for Microsoft :-

IT directors will delay Vista deployment, study finds

Friday 2 May - Few IT directors have plans to deploy Windows Vista this year and some are seriously considering skipping it until Microsoft's next desktop operating system is released. A survey of 78 IT managers responsible for desktop operating systems in FTSE 100 and FTSE 250 firms by TIF, a user group for IT managers, found that businesses were reluctant to upgrade to Vista. More than 40% of IT managers said they had no plans to deploy the operating system. Some said they could not see a driver for Vista, and others were concerned that the size and complexity of Vista would mean an expensive PC upgrade programme. TIF found that IT managers were concerned their existing applications would be incompatible with Vista. One IT manager said he was uncertain whether Vista would work with the company's existing NetWare infrastructure. Another said that a fifth of its applications would not be compatible with Vista.

Ha! Why does that come as no surprise!!

I really think Vista's dying a death and it wouldn't surprise me if MS launch a new OS next year - Vista with a new name of course, though hopefully with fewer bugs.

Our customers often avoid new releases of MS producst, either because they don't want to face all the eaqrly bugs, or because the cost of upgrading is expensive for a big estate of PC's. It's not uncommon for some to miss one release out completely, but I must admit the bad publicity for Vista is longer that I've known it before.

I had a look at a laptop with vista, 40gb hd, 16 gb was vista. The laptop ran slow and clunky because it was trying to cope with the graphics. A business doesnt need pretty pictures neither do I. Maybe if they did a stripped version, no pretty stuff and less bells and whistles it would be accepted better. Or am I referring to win2000? That worked fine, microsoft didnt bother with it because it wasnt developed for joe public.
Vista is another OS that tries to do everything, imagine a car that was off road/people carrier/sports/van/minibus/coach/dumper/pickup with super paintjob. We buy a car to do 1 or 2 jobs, so why not an OS? Linux does that. You can choose a version to do what you want.
Why have a shoulder if the wife cant look over it?

I run windows vista on my new laptop , and on my pc and think its miles better than xp. I think its easier to get around and to do anything else on is so simple. My vote is with vista , and id happily use it again.
