Google Earth Cryptic Puzzle

Postby Tomas Drouty » Mon Aug 21, 2006 1:21 am

Ok here's a new idea. Most people have downloaded google earth which is a fantastic internet tool. (I should be on commission from them).

Anyway here's a new puzzle that uses it.
Below is a cryptic clue to a location somewhere in the world. All you have to do is name that location. The location in question is high-res on google earth. That's one of the rules I'm setting for this new puzzle .. which means anyone can set their own challenge once this first one has been solved .. providing the location in question is high-res ... other rules follow the clue.

Clue:
The lady's husband shows you the method next to the continent with the 'sweet candy' belonging to a mixed up Ray Es.

Rules for future puzzles
1) Places must be high-res (high resolution)
2) Places must be entire countries, cities, towns or islands ... not individual streets or buildings.
3) Clues must be cryptic but provide all the information needed to solve the puzzle.
4) To make it solveable .. clues must also contain a direct link to a continent where the location is situated.

Whitevanman has solved part of the clue but needs to solve the other part too in order to get the location.

I blame Fred for this puzzle, it's since he had an orbit around space on his rocket

I think the country must be United States of America, I was tempeted to go for Salt Lake City but couldn't justify my reasons for this

Think about what continent is being referred to in the clue to narrow down your search.

The clue is very literal.

Reading the question 1st time i thought that solving the 2nd half was the location you where after, but reading it again tells you it is only the clue to the continent. Just goes to show i should read the question carefully 1st time.
Having got this bit i've probably spent more time on this than i should have on this, and i'm no nearer. It looks as if it's puzzled everyone else as well. so can we have a clue.
As you say its next to this continent, do you mean its offshore or on the next continent
With "lady's husband" i'm going along the lines of something with "lord" in it and "shows you the method" i'm thinking "way"

Is any of these on the right lines..PLEASE......PRETTY PLEASE????

I think its Bermuda and the capital Hamilton, which would be Lady Hamiltons husband

You're on the wrong continent Adrian.

What does mixed up Ray Es mean?

The only relevant island i can find is Prince of Wales island. This gives you "the lady's husband" but i still can't relate to "shows you the method"

Probably gone right off track with this though
