Don't trust wiki, anyone can alter things on there. Actually, the only reason that I looked in the dictionary is that the end of the word just doesn't look or sound right.

LF, I'm wrong and you're right. Curiosity got me the better of me and this is what I've found:

HONORIFICABILITUDINITATIBUS = honorableness.
The word first appeared in English in 1599, and in 1721 was listed by Bailey's Dictionary as the longest word in English. It was used by Shakespeare in Love's Labor's Lost (Costard; Act V, Scene I):

Well done!! 27 letters, I didn't count mine, just done it and I have 28. I wonder if there are any more?

Longest word not in a major dictionary...

Lopadotemakhoselakhogaleokranioleipsanodrimypotrimmatosilphiok-
arabomelitokatakechymenokichlepikossyphophattoperisteralektryon-
optokephalliokigklopeleiolagōiosiraiobaphētraganopterýgōn

For interest there is a word with 189,819 letters, but it may take some room to post :lol:
Some people are like slinkies - not really good for anything, but they bring a smile to your face when pushed down the stairs!
