Arrived last week..moving in slowly..lots to do..managed to get out and explore a little,had a couple of meals out ( not time to cook ! )....so far so good...hope it continues...people seem very friendly...feels like a villlage ( nice )...hope "they" keep it that way.

Been to shops again today...did a fly around...little time...family came over,we went to The Plough for a meal...great place..good food..the friendly scottish lady behind bar very helpful and smiling....go !! you will enjoy...we had a free pudding today..pity the rain keeps on coming !!...but things will get better...will need some workmen soon to do things e.g. electrics etc .......have to work out an order from the chaos!! ?....then a walk around The Carrs..why this name anyone ??

Yes, TWW is right about The Carrs. Carr is a name for boggy or marshland. The Carrs used to be boggy at one time, even when I was a kid a lot of it was still very boggy, especially the stretch between the river and the road and the bit between the playground and the river.
